As artificial intelligence rapidly transforms health care, a growing number of leaders are asking: how do we adopt emerging technologies like AI responsibly, strategically, and equitably?
To answer this, the Smart Health & AI Executive Masterclass, hosted by CITRIS and the Banatao Institute, will convene on the UC Berkeley campus on September 15-16, 2025. Designed specifically for health executives, administrators, and innovation leads, the program will deliver an intensive 2-day curriculum focused on real-world applications, policy frameworks, and strategic implementation of Digital Health and AI in clinical and operational settings.
“This masterclass is unlike anything else currently offered in the field—it’s short, sharp, and anchored in real-world practice,” said David Lindeman, Director, CITRIS Health initiative. “Our experts from UCSF, UC Davis Health, UC Berkeley and industry will provide not just insight, but practical strategies that health leaders can implement immediately.”
Participants will engage directly with:
- Leading Healthtech and AI researchers and health policy experts from the University of California
- Operational and clinical leaders from UCSF and UC Davis Health
- Executives, investors, and founders from the health tech ecosystem
Whether you’re evaluating new AI tools, shaping digital transformation strategy, or overseeing clinical implementation, this program is built to inform and empower.
Jill Finlayson, Managing Director of the CITRIS Innovation Hub, said, “The compact format is ideal for busy professionals—just two days, but packed with critical insight. It’s a curated overview of the most relevant AI applications, digital health interventions, and health policies executives need to know now.”
CITRIS also offers an intensive option for startup founders seeking to apply these insights and understand the healthtech startup and venture space, taking place September 18-19. The intensive program includes the Masterclass and builds upon the program with two additional days of applied talks on topics specific to startups, such as strategic frameworks for AI in care delivery including data governance, equity, and regulatory trends; networking and coaching for startup founders on pitching and funding for healthtech; and case studies of AI implementation from health systems and startups.
“CITRIS is uniquely positioned to bring together the best of UC Berkeley, UC Davis Health, UCSF, and Silicon Valley,” said Camille Crittenden, Executive Director, CITRIS and the Banatao Institute. “This program reflects our deep bench of expertise and our mission to drive innovation that improves lives.”
